The ultimate purpose of Sugar Land Bible Church is to bring glory to God (SLBC Constitution, Article II, Purpose). To achieve this, the SLBC youth ministry exists to labor alongside the parents of youth as they lead their children in the Lord (Eph 6:1b). For youth who may not have believing families, we seek to be witnesses for Christ and show them what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
Our vision for youth, upon leaving SLBC youth ministry, is to have a consuming love for God, a consistent love for His Word, and a compassionate love for others. To achieve this, we must come alongside parents to teach, disciple, and train. By this we mean:
- Teach – Teach youth sound doctrine (Titus 2:1) so they may trust, obey, and grow in the Lord (Prov 3:5-7; 2 Pet 3:18) and honor their parents (Eph 6:1-3)
- Worship – cultivate love for God through praise and worship.
- Disciple – Build within the youth Godly character (Titus 2:7) so they may become more Christ-like (Eph 4:15).
